Trane Raises Outlook as Commercial HVAC Orders Surge
Trane Technologies, the company behind Trane heating and cooling equipment, reported strong second-quarter growth in both its commercial and residential business, and raised its outlook for the year. Companywide revenue hit $6.4 billion, up 11% from a year earlier, with the commercial side leading the way. Data centers are driving much of that commercial demand, as Trane supplies chillers and cooling systems to keep them running efficiently.
On the residential side, the part of the business that makes home heating and cooling equipment, sales grew faster than expected in the second quarter and are up mid-single digits so far this year. Trane's CEO said the company had expected residential sales to be flat or even down slightly this year but now expects continued modest growth through the rest of 2026. Most of Trane's residential business comes from replacing existing equipment rather than installing systems in new homes, and the company said dealer inventory levels are in good shape after cuts made late last year.
For homeowners, this mainly signals that manufacturers see steady, if unspectacular, demand for replacement furnaces, air conditioners, and heat pumps this year, with no supply squeeze expected. It does not change any rebate programs, prices, or specific equipment offerings on its own, but it suggests the market for getting a new system installed should stay stable through 2026.
