The Jackery HomePower H1000 v2 — CleanTechnica Tested
Jackery's newest portable power station, the HomePower H1000 v2, is a battery pack you can use for backup power during outages, camping, or running tools and appliances off-grid. It stores 1 kilowatt-hour of energy, weighs about 23 pounds, and uses lithium-ferro-phosphate (LFP) battery cells, a chemistry known for lasting longer and being safer than older battery types. Jackery says it should still hold 70 percent of its capacity after 6,000 charge cycles, which works out to daily use for more than 16 years.
You can recharge it from a regular wall outlet in about 50 minutes, from a car, or from Jackery's folding solar panels in a little over three hours. It puts out 1,500 watts of continuous power, with brief bursts up to 3,000 watts, which is enough to run power-hungry appliances like an induction cooktop, a blender, or a heat gun, even a couple of them at once for short periods. In testing, it kept a large fridge running for days in extreme heat.
The unit currently lists for $879 but is on sale for $579. Portable power stations like this are a competing option to larger, more expensive whole-home battery systems, useful mainly for keeping a few key devices running during a power outage or for off-grid use, rather than backing up an entire house. Prices in this market change often, so it's worth comparing options before buying.
