Hyundai Motor Group Launches AllDayEnergy, Its Global V2X Service

July 24, 2026 · CleanTechnica · Score: 32

Hyundai Motor Group has launched AllDayEnergy, a new global brand for services that let electric vehicles interact with home power systems and the electric grid, rather than just draw power from them. The lineup covers three things: smart charging (called V1G), which times charging to cheaper electricity rates or grid needs; vehicle-to-grid (V2G), which lets an EV send stored power back to the grid; and vehicle-to-home (V2H), which lets an EV's battery power a house, including as backup during an outage.

The idea is that an EV becomes a kind of mobile battery for your home, charging when electricity is cheap and either powering the house or feeding the grid later. Hyundai already runs versions of this elsewhere: a V2G pilot in Jeju, South Korea, V2H backup power in the U.S. during events like wildfires, and smart charging tied to changing electricity prices in the Netherlands.

The rollout starts with smart charging in the UK through the Kia App in the second half of 2026, with plans to expand to Europe, the U.S., and Korea afterward, and to add V2G and V2H over time. Services will run through the Hyundai and Kia vehicle apps. No U.S. timeline, pricing, or specific vehicle models were given yet, so homeowners interested in using an EV as home backup power or grid income should watch for further announcements as the service reaches their market.
