A wave of HVAC manufacturers is raising prices this August, which could mean higher costs if you're planning a furnace, air conditioner, heat pump, or related replacement soon. Most increases are in the single digits, but they vary a lot by brand and product. Legend Valve products are seeing hikes up to 25%, and Lau parts are going up 16.2-16.8% starting August 31.
Several well-known equipment makers are raising prices up to 7%, effective August 3: Amana, Daikin (including ductless, VRV, and light commercial systems, plus OEM parts), and Goodman. Bard Manufacturing is raising prices an average of 6% the same day. Earlier in the month, on August 1, Amana PTAC units (a type of packaged terminal air conditioner common in some homes) and accessories go up as much as 5%, and AprilAire products rise 0-4%, depending on the item. Other companies affected include DiversiTech, Broan-NuTone, Navien, RectorSeal, and various parts and motor suppliers, with increases spread across the rest of the month through August 31.
If you're weighing a heating or cooling upgrade, the timing of these increases is worth keeping in mind, since equipment ordered or installed after these effective dates may cost more than it did earlier in the year. Not every manufacturer disclosed a specific percentage, and increases differ by product line, so the actual effect on any particular system depends on which brand and model is involved.
