Xiaomi Way Behind Schedule On Its 2026 Sales Target

August 12, 2026 · CleanTechnica · Score: 0

Xiaomi, the Chinese consumer tech company that entered the electric vehicle market about two years ago, is falling well short of its 2026 sales goal. The company set a target of 550,000 vehicle deliveries for the year. Through July, it had delivered 216,322 vehicles, less than half that target with only five months left. July deliveries came in at 31,267, a pace that would add up to roughly 375,204 for the year if it held steady, still nearly 200,000 short of the goal.

This is a story about the EV industry's growth, not about home energy upgrades. It does not involve any rebate, tax credit, or program that affects heating, cooling, or electrical work on a house. Xiaomi's vehicles are not sold in connection with any home electrification incentive discussed on this site.

For homeowners tracking the broader shift toward electric vehicles and electrification as background context, the takeaway is simply that even fast-growing EV makers can miss ambitious targets. Xiaomi is still selling hundreds of thousands of vehicles a year, a notable achievement for a company so new to the auto business, but its rapid rise has slowed compared to its own projections. Whether the company adjusts its approach or scales back its goals for the sector remains to be seen. None of this changes what rebates or incentives might be available for upgrades at your own home.
