Wawa-branded EV chargers are expanding beyond Tesla

August 19, 2026 · Electrek · Score: 28

Wawa is putting its own brand on a new set of EV fast chargers, expanding beyond the Tesla Superchargers it began branding earlier this year. This time the convenience store chain is working with Electrify America, which will supply the charging equipment and network support while Wawa runs the stations under its own name. Eight Pennsylvania locations are getting the new chargers this year.

Three stores — in Bristol, Allentown, and Quakertown — will have CCS-only chargers (a plug type used by most non-Tesla EVs) capable of up to 350 kW. Five others, in Upper Darby, Phoenixville, Media, Williamsport, and Reading, will offer both CCS and NACS connectors (NACS is the plug type Tesla uses, now being adopted more broadly) at up to 400 kW. Keep in mind a car only charges as fast as its battery allows, so few vehicles today will actually pull the full 400 kW, but that puts these among the fastest public chargers being installed in the US right now.

Wawa says this Pennsylvania rollout is a test of owning its charging stations directly, giving it more control over reliability and the customer experience, rather than just hosting equipment run by others. The company still hosts Tesla and IONNA chargers too, so this doesn't replace those options. No opening dates or pricing have been announced yet. For homeowners with an EV, this mainly means another fast-charging option showing up at familiar Wawa stops in Pennsylvania, with more states possibly following depending on how the test goes.
