UNDP & TAILG Sign MOU for a Green, Low-Carbon Mobility Project to Advance Sustainable Development in Africa & Beyond
The United Nations Development Programme and TAILG, an electric two-wheeler maker, have signed an agreement in Kenya to build a "Green Mobility Centre of Excellence." The plan is to work together on electric mobility projects across Africa, including converting gas-powered vehicles to electric ones, as part of broader efforts to cut carbon emissions and support the region's green economy. TAILG, which runs seven manufacturing plants worldwide and sells in more than 70 countries, will help run and fund the center alongside UNDP.
This is a policy and industry partnership, not a consumer program. It focuses on electric scooters and mopeds in African markets rather than home energy upgrades, and there's no rebate, incentive, or product announcement here that applies to homeowners elsewhere.
For someone weighing energy upgrades at home, this news doesn't change anything directly. It's a signal that electric transportation investment is expanding globally, but it has no bearing on home weatherization, heat pumps, or rebate programs in the U.S. or other markets where Retrofit Relay readers typically look for savings.
