Ukraine debuts mine-resistant all-wheel drive combat electric motorcycle

August 11, 2026 · Electrek · Score: 1

This story is about military technology, not home upgrades, but here's what happened. Ukraine's Ministry of Defense has approved a new electric motorcycle called the MUL.E for battlefield use. It's an all-wheel-drive bike with two electric motors, built with wide, low-pressure tires that spread the vehicle's weight over a larger area. That design lowers ground pressure enough to reduce the risk of setting off pressure-triggered anti-tank mines, though the makers are clear it isn't "mineproof" and mixed minefields with anti-personnel mines remain dangerous for any vehicle.

The bike runs on battery power, which makes it far quieter than a gas motorcycle, useful for scouting or moving supplies near front lines without being heard or spotted. Ukraine has already fielded electric two-wheelers for similar stealth work. The MUL.E gets about 62 miles of range per charge, but it also carries an onboard gas generator, so troops can recharge batteries with fuel instead of needing charging stations. That same generator lets the bike act as a portable power source for other field equipment. It can also tow cargo trailers over rough terrain that would stop larger trucks or jeeps.

This fits a broader pattern of militaries, including the US and Canada, testing electric bikes for their quiet operation. There's nothing here that applies to home energy upgrades or rebates.
