The Genesis GV90 takes luxury up a notch with coach doors and all [Images]

This one's about a new luxury electric vehicle, not a home energy upgrade, so it doesn't affect any decisions about your house. Still, here's what happened: Genesis unveiled its new flagship electric SUV, the GV90, at an event in San Francisco. It's a large, high-end vehicle with a battery pack of 123.5 kWh, offering an estimated 310 miles of range in the seven-seat version. On a fast charger rated at 350 kW, it can go from 10% to 80% charge in about 22 minutes.

The GV90 comes loaded with unusual features, including rear "coach doors" that open independently of the front doors on a special version called the Neolun Arch Gate, a roof airbag designed to protect passengers in a rollover, and a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system producing 657 horsepower. Inside, it has a pop-up display screen, a large head-up display, a 25-speaker sound system, and rear-wheel steering to help with tight turns.

None of this connects to home energy programs, rebates, or efficiency upgrades. If you're weighing electric vehicle purchases against home electrification spending, the relevant takeaway is simply that automakers keep expanding the luxury EV market, but this particular model is a high-end SUV announcement, not something tied to any rebate program or federal incentive for homeowners.
