Subaru’s new Trailseeker EV starts at $40,000

July 3, 2026 · Electrek · Score: 0

Subaru has released pricing for its 2027 Trailseeker, an electric SUV, with a starting price of $39,995, the same as the current model. It comes in three trims: Premium ($39,995), Limited ($43,995), and Touring ($46,555), plus a destination fee of $1,475 (higher in Alaska and slightly different in a few Northeastern states). The Trailseeker uses a 74.7 kWh battery for up to 281 miles of range, and it charges through the NACS port used by Tesla's charging network, with DC fast charging up to 150 kW that can take it from 10 to 80 percent charge in as little as 28 minutes.

For homeowners weighing an EV alongside home charging plans, the Trailseeker's standard all-wheel drive, 8.3 inches of ground clearance, and towing capacity up to 3,500 pounds make it more suited to rougher driveways or towing needs than some rivals. All trims include Subaru's EyeSight driver assist system, and higher trims add features like heated rear seats, a panoramic glass roof, and ventilated front seats. The base trim alone offers dual wireless phone chargers and a 14-inch center touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The new Trailseeker goes on sale this fall in six colors, with an extra $395 for the Daybreak Blue Pearl option. It's priced close to the Tesla Model Y, though the Model Y AWD offers slightly more range at 294 miles. Subaru's smaller Uncharted EV, announced last week, starts even lower at $35,000.
