Subaru’s new Trailseeker EV is already outselling its other electric vehicles

August 4, 2026 · Electrek · Score: 0

This story is about car sales, not home energy upgrades, but here's what happened: Subaru's new electric SUV, the Trailseeker, is now outselling the automaker's other electric models. In July, Subaru sold 1,077 Trailseekers in the US, compared with 138 Solterras and 359 Untracked SUVs. For the year so far, the Solterra still leads overall with 5,275 sold, followed by the Trailseeker at 3,513 and the Uncharted at 2,850.

The Trailseeker is bigger than the Solterra, with more passenger space and higher ground clearance, and it has a more powerful dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup. It runs on a 74.7 kWh battery with an EPA-estimated range of up to 281 miles, and it can fast-charge from 10 to 80 percent in as little as 28 minutes. It also has a built-in NACS charging port, the connector type used by Tesla Superchargers, so it can charge at those stations without an adapter.

Pricing starts at $39,995 for the base Premium trim, with the Limited at $43,995 and the top Touring trim at $46,555, plus a destination fee. For comparison, a Tesla Model Y starts around $39,990 for rear-wheel drive or $41,990 for all-wheel drive, with an EPA range of 294 miles. None of this involves home energy programs or rebates — it is simply news about which electric vehicle is proving more popular with Subaru buyers this year.
