Software Gives Contractors a Window into Home Systems

July 9, 2026 · ACHR News · Score: 42

A software company called Sendal has launched a new monitoring tool, Sendal Aware, for HVAC and home service companies. The system watches a home's heating and cooling equipment for signs of trouble, such as a system not responding normally, excess heat or humidity, mold risk, power outages, indoor air quality problems, and water pooling in a drain pan (a common early sign of a failing air conditioner). When it spots something off, it alerts the contractor and, when needed, the homeowner too.

The idea is to catch problems before they turn into full breakdowns, so a contractor can respond faster instead of you only calling when the system has already failed. It also builds on two earlier Sendal products, Breathe and Balance, which handle air quality and whole-home humidity control and have kept more than 98% of customers year over year, according to the company.

For homeowners, this is mainly a look at where the industry is heading rather than something to sign up for directly. Aware is a service contractors can offer, not a product you'd buy on your own. If your HVAC company adopts something like this, it could mean earlier warnings about a struggling system, or ongoing check-ins between regular service visits, rather than a surprise breakdown in the middle of a heat wave. Whether it shows up for your home depends on whether your local contractor decides to use it.
