Lexus undercuts luxury rivals with 2027 ES prices starting under $50,000
This news is about a car, not a home energy upgrade, but it may interest anyone weighing an electric vehicle alongside home charging plans. Lexus is bringing back its electric ES sedan for the 2027 model year, with prices starting at $49,005 for the front-wheel-drive ES 350e Premium, including delivery fee. An all-wheel-drive ES 500e Premium starts at $52,005. Higher Luxury trims run from $57,405 to $60,405. That undercuts rival luxury EVs like the BMW i4 and Audi A6 e-tron.
Both versions share a 74.7 kWh battery. The ES 350e gets up to 307 miles of range on standard 19-inch wheels, or 292 miles with larger 21-inch wheels. The AWD ES 500e, which adds a rear motor for more power, gets 276 miles on 19-inch wheels or 272 miles on 21-inch wheels. The car has a built-in NACS charging port, the same plug standard used by Tesla's network, and Lexus says it can charge from 10 to 80 percent in about 28 minutes on a fast charger.
A hybrid version, the ES 350h, also returns, starting at $51,200. The new models are expected to reach dealerships in September. If you are shopping for a home EV charger or planning your electricity setup around a new car, the range and charging speed here are the numbers that would matter for figuring out your own charging needs at home.
