Kia’s electric hatch gains AWD and nearly 350 miles of range

July 8, 2026 · Electrek · Score: 0

Kia has added an all-wheel drive option to its EV4 electric hatchback and sedan, but only in Europe. The new setup adds a rear motor for a combined 265 horsepower, available on the Earth and GT-Line trims (not the base Air model). With the larger 81.4 kWh battery, the AWD Earth version can go up to about 347 miles on a charge, while the GT-Line AWD gets about 341 miles. Pricing in Europe starts around $55,700 for the Earth AWD and $59,300 for the GT-Line AWD. A more powerful GT performance version, already sold in Korea, is expected to reach Europe and other global markets sometime this year.

None of this affects US buyers directly, since Kia has delayed the EV4 indefinitely for America due to tariffs and other policy changes. If you're shopping for an electric car in the US, the EV4 simply isn't on the table right now.

Kia's other electric model, the EV3 compact SUV, is still on track to arrive in the US by the end of 2026, with an expected starting price around $35,000 and an estimated range of 320 miles in its front-wheel-drive form. For homeowners weighing a home charger install alongside a new EV purchase, that's the more relevant model to watch for now, since the EV4 remains a Europe- and Korea-only option for the foreseeable future.
