Kia EV2 Long Range goes on sale with 281 miles of range, plus GT and Black-Line trims
Kia has added a longer-range version of its small electric car, the EV2, now on sale in the UK and Europe. The new Long Range model uses a bigger 61 kWh battery and gets up to 281 miles of driving range on the WLTP test cycle, up from 190 miles on the original First Edition's smaller 42.2 kWh battery. The Long Range EV2 also comes in new GT-Line and Black-Line trims.
Pricing varies by market and trim. In Germany, the base Long Range "Air" trim starts around €33,490 ($38,300), with GT-Line and Black-Line versions running higher. In the UK, the Long Range Air starts at £27,995 ($37,700) before any government incentives, while GT-Line and GT-Line S trims cost more. The original First Edition, with the smaller battery, still starts lower, around £26,995 ($36,500) with the UK's Electric Car Grant applied.
This is a Europe-and-UK launch, not a US announcement, so it does not directly affect American homeowners shopping for a home EV charging setup right now. But it is a sign that automakers keep pushing smaller, more affordable EVs with longer range, which is useful context if you are weighing whether to install a home charger or wait for cheaper electric models to reach your market. Kia also cited independent testing showing the standard EV2 beat its official range rating in real-world driving, a detail relevant mainly to how much you might trust an EV's advertised range when planning charging needs.
