Jaguar Type 01 Debuts In New York City

October 7, 2026 · CleanTechnica · Score: 0

This isn't really a story about home energy upgrades, but here's what happened: Jaguar unveiled its new all-electric car, the Type 01, in New York this week. It's the first model built on the company's new electric-only platform, a four-door luxury car with a claimed 1000 horsepower and a price around $130,000 in the US (£130,000 in the UK). Deliveries are expected to start in the second half of 2027.

A few technical details stand out if you follow EV charging technology generally: the car runs on an 850-volt electrical system, which Jaguar says can add 200 miles of range in 13 minutes on a 350-kilowatt fast charger. Jaguar claims a highway range of 320 miles, with up to 400 miles possible in gentler driving. The design has drawn sharp criticism, with some calling it polarizing or worse, and the car's future sales will likely determine whether two more planned Jaguar models reach production at all.

For homeowners, this has no bearing on rebates, weatherization programs, or home energy equipment. It's simply an auto industry story about a luxury brand betting heavily on a single new electric model to stay relevant, amid declining sales, leadership turmoil, and competition from Chinese automakers. If you're shopping for home EV charging equipment, this news doesn't change anything about available incentives or technology on the market today.
