Hyundai’s IONIQ 5 N EV just got much cheaper with a huge $6,300 price cut
This is car news, not a home energy story, but here's what happened: Hyundai cut the starting price of its 2026 IONIQ 5 N electric performance car by $6,300, bringing it to $59,900 before a $1,600 destination fee. That follows an earlier price cut of up to $9,800 on the standard 2026 IONIQ 5 model.
Along with the lower price, the 2026 N version gets a few updates. It now has a NACS charging port built in, so it can plug into Tesla Superchargers without needing an adapter. It also comes with a dual-amp charging cable that works for both slower Level 1 home outlets and faster Level 2 charging, plus adapters for other charging setups. Other changes include more drift-mode settings, a new blue paint option, and auto up/down rear windows.
None of this involves home energy upgrades, rebates, or weatherization, so there's nothing here that changes your house or your utility bills. If you're weighing an EV purchase alongside home charging plans, the relevant facts are the price ($59,900 to start), the added Tesla Supercharger compatibility, and the charging cable that comes with the car. Anyone considering installing a home Level 2 charger for a vehicle like this would still want to check what charging equipment and any related incentives are available in their own state, separate from this price cut.
