Hyundai is about to launch the IONIQ 3, and it plans to sell over 40,000 in 2027
This one doesn't apply to your house. Hyundai is preparing to launch a new small electric car, the IONIQ 3, in Europe later in 2026, with mass production starting in mid-August. The company expects to sell more than 40,000 of them in 2027. It's built for the European market only, and there's no mention of it coming to the US.
Prices have been announced in some European markets: about $29,800 to start in the UK and around $32,000 in the Netherlands, rising to roughly $42,700 for the top trim. The car comes with two battery options, a smaller 42.2 kWh pack good for about 213 miles of range, and a larger 61 kWh pack good for about 308 miles, using the WLTP test standard common in Europe. Fast charging can take either battery from 10% to 80% in about 29 to 30 minutes.
The IONIQ 3 also introduces Hyundai's new Pleos infotainment system, built on Android Automotive, with large touchscreens and an AI assistant called Gleo. None of this changes what's available to US buyers right now, since the car is aimed squarely at Europe, where small electric vehicles make up a growing share of the market. If you're weighing an EV purchase for your home charging setup, this is more a sign of where Hyundai's lineup is headed globally than something you can buy or plan around today.
