Hyundai confirms the IONIQ 6 N is still on track to launch in the US soon
This story is about a car, not a home energy upgrade, so it does not affect plans for insulation, heat pumps, or rebates. But since it touched on electric vehicles, here is the gist: Hyundai says its high-performance IONIQ 6 N electric car is still coming to the US by the end of 2026, despite online rumors that it had been canceled. The company discontinued the regular IONIQ 6 after the 2025 model year, which led some to think the sportier N version was dead too. A Hyundai executive told an outlet covering the brand that there has been no change to those plans.
The IONIQ 6 N will be sold in limited numbers. It's Hyundai's second high-performance electric vehicle, after the IONIQ 5 N, and shares the same underlying platform. It has a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup putting out 641 horsepower and can go from 0 to 60 mph in 3.2 seconds. It also includes systems that mimic the sound and shifting feel of a gas-powered sports car.
Separately, Hyundai recently cut the price of the 2026 IONIQ 5 N by $6,300.
If you're weighing an electric vehicle purchase alongside home upgrades like a heat pump or added insulation, this news mainly matters if you're shopping for a performance EV rather than a standard commuter car — it does not change any rebate or efficiency program available to homeowners.
