Could Jackery EnergyGuard Max Lead A Shift To Large Capacity Home Batteries?

September 10, 2026 · CleanTechnica · Score: 28

Jackery showed off a new whole-home battery system, the EnergyGuard Max, at a trade show in Berlin. It pairs a 100 kWh battery (much bigger than a typical home battery, like a Tesla Powerwall) with a large inverter, all built for outdoor use. For comparison, a US home uses about 29 kWh a day on average, so a battery this size could keep a home running for days, or longer if you cut back on use, during a long power outage. It could also help avoid high electricity prices during heat waves or cold snaps, if your utility charges more at peak times.

The system's inverter can also handle very fast EV charging and two-way charging, meaning a car's battery could someday help power the home, or vice versa. It includes several layers of safety protections against surges, short circuits, and other faults. It can also take in more solar power than most home systems use, which could matter for homeowners looking to add rooftop solar alongside a battery. Beyond backup power, a battery this size could reduce the peak power a home draws from the grid, which matters for older houses whose electrical wiring struggles to support new demands like heat pumps, EV charging, or added air conditioning.

The system is designed for the European market for now, with no US pricing or timeline given. The company suggests it should cost less than an average new car, but exact numbers aren't available. Whether this size of battery makes financial sense for a US home would depend on local electricity rates and whether the homeowner could sell stored power back to the grid.
