This is a car launch, not a home energy story, but here's what happened: the Chinese automaker Avatr, backed by Changan, CATL, and Huawei, has launched a new electric SUV called the 07L, priced from 219,900 yuan (about $32,590) for a limited time, with other trims running up to 279,900 yuan ($41,480).
All versions use a 89.33 kWh battery from CATL and can charge very fast, going from 30% to 80% in under 10 minutes thanks to an 800-volt charging system. Range on the base and mid trims is rated at 725 kilometers (450 miles), while the faster Ultra trim gets 650 kilometers (404 miles) — though these are Chinese CLTC ratings, which tend to run higher than U.S. EPA estimates. Every version comes with Huawei's driver-assistance and cockpit software, with the higher trims getting more advanced sensors for automated driving features.
For a homeowner thinking about home energy upgrades, this doesn't have direct bearing — the 07L is not sold in the U.S. and isn't tied to any rebate or incentive program here. It's worth knowing about mainly as a sign of how fast EV technology and fast-charging batteries are advancing in China, which can eventually shape what charging equipment and EV options show up in other markets, including for homeowners considering a home charger down the road.
