Asylon DroneDog pitched as physical security for large solar sites

July 10, 2026 · Solar Power World · Score: 9

A company called Asylon is offering a robotic security system called DroneDog for large, utility-scale solar farms. It is a robot that patrols on its own, using thermal cameras and AI to spot problems, with a live human watching video feeds around the clock. The idea is to give big solar sites a steadier security presence while cutting reliance on traditional guard services. When it is not on patrol, DroneDog returns to an outdoor charging station called a DogHouse to recharge and stay protected from weather.

This is aimed at large commercial solar installations, not homes. Asylon says its DroneDog and a companion drone system have together completed more than 350,000 patrol missions at commercial and infrastructure sites, and DroneDog alone has logged over 150,000 patrol miles.

For a homeowner, this news has no direct bearing on rooftop or small residential solar systems. It reflects how operators of large-scale solar farms are handling site security and equipment protection, which is a separate concern from home energy upgrades, rebates, or the equipment used in a typical household installation.
