Access LEED v5 monthly office hours and additional resources
This news is about LEED, a certification system for green commercial buildings, and it doesn't have much bearing on individual homes. The update covers support resources being rolled out for LEED v5, the newest version of that rating system, which building owners and design teams use to certify offices, schools, and other large commercial and institutional projects.
The organization behind LEED is offering monthly "office hours," which are hour-long question-and-answer sessions where project teams can ask staff about how to meet the new rating system's requirements. Sessions run twice each day (7 a.m. and 1 p.m. ET) on Aug. 18, Sept. 16, Oct. 14, Nov. 18, and Dec. 9. There's also an in-person conference, Greenbuild, happening Oct. 20–23 in New York City, along with reference guides, updated professional certification exams, and an online help center for technical questions.
None of this applies to single-family homes or residential energy upgrades. LEED certification and these support resources are aimed at commercial and institutional construction projects, not home weatherization, insulation, or heat pump installations. If you're weighing upgrades for your own house, this particular program isn't the one to watch — it's worth keeping an eye out instead for residential-specific rebate programs or efficiency incentives in your state.
