York Adds 2 Variable-Speed Furnaces to Product Lineup

October 12, 2026 · ACHR News · Score: 36

Bosch Home Comfort Group has released two new York gas furnaces under its Y-series lineup. The Y82V is an 80% AFUE (annual fuel utilization efficiency, a measure of how much fuel is turned into heat) model, suited as a primary or backup furnace in milder climates. The Y92V is a 97% AFUE condensing furnace, Energy Star-rated, built for colder regions where it can lower energy costs compared to less efficient furnaces.

Both models use two-stage operation paired with variable-speed airflow. In practice, that means the furnace can run at a lower setting most of the time instead of switching fully on and off, which tends to keep temperatures steadier, cut down on noise, and reduce hot and cold spots around the house. The company also says the units can help control summer humidity and improve indoor air quality.

The bulk of the upgrades are aimed at installers rather than homeowners directly: digital displays for setting airflow, easier access to parts like flame sensors and igniters, redesigned duct connections, and venting kits meant for tight closets. For a homeowner, the practical takeaway is mainly about efficiency and comfort, not price or rebates, since no cost or incentive information was included. If you are weighing a furnace replacement, the efficiency rating (AFUE) is the number worth asking about, since it affects how much of your fuel bill actually turns into heat in your home.
