XPENG Releases New G9L Details & Presale Price

August 13, 2026 · CleanTechnica · Score: 0

This is a car story, not a home energy upgrade story, so it doesn't connect to anything you'd do with your own house. Briefly: Chinese automaker XPENG has released presale details for a new electric SUV called the G9L, a five-seat companion to its larger GX model. It comes in both full battery-electric and range-extended (EREV) versions, with battery electric range up to 755 km depending on trim and a combined range up to 1,602 km for the EREV. Fast charging can add 450 km of range in about 9 minutes. The car is loaded with features like adaptive projection headlights, a 12.5-liter refrigerator, massaging seats, 33 speakers, and voice controls that work from outside the vehicle.

A single presale price of 259,800 RMB (about $38,524) has been announced, though the final sticker price and full range of trims are still unknown. For comparison, that undercuts Tesla's Model Y pricing in China. There's no word yet on whether or when the G9L will be sold in the United States.

None of this affects home energy upgrades, rebates, or household electricity use. If XPENG or other EV makers eventually sell this model in the US, it could matter to someone weighing an electric vehicle alongside things like a home charger or solar setup, but that's not part of this news.
