Xiaomi, the Chinese tech company known for phones and gadgets, has launched a global website and social media presence for its electric car business, now branded "Xiaomi Auto." The move comes as the company prepares to enter the European market in 2027. Xiaomi has had strong sales success in China with its electric vehicles, but the Chinese EV market overall has cooled this year, pushing automakers to look abroad for growth.
The new site, xiaomiauto.com, is still fairly bare, showing company news dating back to 2023 and highlighting five research and development centers, including one in Munich, Germany. Xiaomi is also seeking dealer and distributor partners to sell its cars in Europe once it launches there.
This is a business and market story rather than one with an immediate impact on your home. There's no rebate, incentive, or purchasing decision to weigh yet, since Xiaomi's cars aren't available in the United States and the company is only just starting its European push. If you're curious about EV options down the road, this is worth filing away as a name to watch, but there's nothing to act on for now.
