Waymo Launches New Ojai

October 7, 2026 · CleanTechnica · Score: 0

This story is about robotaxis, not home energy upgrades, so it won't affect plans for insulation, heat pumps, or rebates. Still, here's what happened: Waymo, the self-driving car company, updated its Ojai robotaxi with a new look rather than opening service in a new city. The refreshed vehicle has a silver exterior and interior changes, including soft leatherette seats, matching seatbelts, carpeted flooring, and high-contrast trim. Waymo also added a wireless phone charger, new seats, and rear armrests.

The updated vehicles are being built at Waymo's production facility in Mesa, Arizona, and are now going through on-road testing. Waymo says they will start carrying riders in the coming weeks in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas, with plans to expand to more cities later.

None of this involves home electrification, weatherization, or energy rebates, so there is nothing here that changes what a homeowner might do about their own house. It is simply a product update from a ride-hailing and self-driving car company.
