Waymo Invites Riders in 3 New Cities! Now In 14
This one is not about home energy upgrades, so there's not much here that affects your house or your utility bills. Waymo, the self-driving car company, has opened its robotaxi service to public riders in three more cities — Tampa, San Diego, and Denver — bringing its total to 14 cities. The cars only pick up and drop off in certain parts of each city for now, not the whole metro area, which Waymo says is normal for a new rollout and will expand over time.
Waymo frames this as making everyday trips easier, from errands to late-shift commutes. The company also highlighted two groups who might find the service useful: AARP Florida noted it could help older adults who no longer want to drive get around their communities, and the National Federation of the Blind's San Diego chapter said riders who need service animals can count on a ride without the driver pushback they sometimes face with regular rideshare apps.
None of this ties into home electrification, rebates, or efficiency programs — it is simply an expansion of where you can hail a driverless car. If you live in or near Tampa, San Diego, or Denver, it may be worth checking whether Waymo's service area currently covers your neighborhood, since coverage is still limited and growing gradually.
