Watch Tesla FSD v14 Lite drive over a giant log without stopping

August 24, 2026 · Electrek · Score: 4

This is a Tesla story, not a home energy one, but here is what happened. A Tesla owner posted dashcam video of his car driving straight over a large log lying across the road while using Tesla's "Full Self-Driving" (FSD) software, version 14.1 Lite. The car did not brake or swerve, even though the log was clearly visible on a wet, foggy road. This version of FSD runs on older "Hardware 3" computers, which have less memory and processing power than Tesla's newer hardware, and owners have reported a string of problems since it rolled out this summer, including overheating computers, forced shutdowns, and phantom braking.

FSD is a driver-assist system, meaning the person behind the wheel is still supposed to watch the road and take over when needed. The owner in this video acknowledged he should have been paying closer attention, but also argued the car should have stopped for an obstacle that large. That tension is the core issue: as these systems get smoother at everyday driving, drivers tend to relax their attention, which is exactly when a rare failure like this one can cause a serious crash.

For homeowners, this doesn't connect to home energy upgrades or rebates. It's a reminder that driver-assist features, even ones marketed as advanced, still require full attention from the person in the driver's seat.
