Waaree Energy increases capacity of Arizona factory to 1.6 GW

September 1, 2026 · PV Magazine USA · Score: 26

Waaree Energies, a solar panel manufacturer, is expanding its factory in Arizona. The company's board approved about $37 million to upgrade the facility with more efficient equipment, raising its yearly production capacity from 1 gigawatt to 1.6 gigawatts. Combined with Waaree's Texas plant, the company's total U.S. panel-making capacity will reach 4.8 gigawatts. The Arizona work will be paid for with a mix of borrowed money and company funds.

Separately, Waaree is reorganizing some of its manufacturing in India, moving equipment from two smaller plants into a larger facility it already runs in Chikhli. The company says this is a consolidation of existing equipment rather than new capacity, so it does not add to Waaree's overall manufacturing total, which reached about 20 gigawatts across India in December 2025.

For a homeowner, this is mainly a sign of how solar panel supply is shifting rather than something that changes prices or availability right away. More U.S.-based manufacturing capacity, including this Arizona expansion, could over time affect which panels are available domestically and whether they qualify for rules that favor American-made equipment in some rebate or tax credit programs. But this news is about a manufacturer building out its factories, not about a new incentive, price change, or product you could buy today. If you're weighing a solar installation, it's worth keeping an eye on whether panel sourcing rules affect any credits or rebates you're counting on, since those requirements can vary and change over time.
