This Montréal airport now has 120 EV chargers, with 48 more on the way

October 16, 2026 · Electrek · Score: 23

Montréal Metropolitan Airport, in Longueuil, Quebec, now has 120 EV chargers running, with 48 more planned as the airport finishes a building under construction. Once that's done, the site will have 168 charging points total, serving employees, visitors, and airport operations across its more than 2,600 parking spaces.

The chargers are Wallbox Pulsar Pro units, a Level 2 charger (the kind you'd plug into for a few hours, not the fast chargers used for quick highway top-ups) rated up to 11.5 kW. The project doesn't say how fast cars will actually charge there or what it will cost to plug in. To handle so many chargers at once without overloading the electrical system, the airport is using Wallbox's power-sharing technology, which splits available electricity among groups of chargers rather than giving every car full power at the same time.

For homeowners, this isn't about your house directly, but it's a sign of how public charging networks are growing and how sites with limited electrical capacity are managing large numbers of chargers — a challenge similar to what some homeowners face when adding a home charger alongside other high-demand appliances. No completion date has been announced for the additional 48 chargers.
