The Hyundai IONIQ 7 is coming as a big sibling to the IONIQ 5

October 8, 2026 · Electrek · Score: 1

This is car news, not a home energy upgrade story, so there's nothing here about rebates, retrofits, or your house. But if you're weighing an electric vehicle alongside other home energy decisions, here's the gist.

Hyundai is reportedly planning a new electric SUV called the IONIQ 7, sized between its current IONIQ 5 and the larger three-row IONIQ 9. It would be closer in size to the IONIQ 5 but with a boxier SUV shape, offered with two- or three-row seating and single- or dual-motor options. No official specs yet, but it's expected to get at least 400 miles of range on the European testing standard and use the same fast-charging battery system as the IONIQ 5 and IONIQ 9. If it comes to the US, it would likely cost somewhat more than the IONIQ 5, which starts at $35,250, putting the IONIQ 7 in a rough $40,000 to $45,000 range.

Hyundai is also readying a smaller electric SUV, the IONIQ 4, which would slot below the IONIQ 5 and compete with vehicles like the Kia EV3. That model is expected to start around $33,000 in the UK, but it likely won't be sold in the US. Both new models are said to be 12 to 18 months from launch, with no official confirmation from Hyundai yet. If you're shopping for an EV as part of a broader plan to cut home energy costs, this is worth watching, but there's no firm pricing, release date, or US availability to act on yet.
