The Genesis GV90 takes luxury up a notch with coach doors and all [Images]
This one isn't about home energy upgrades. Genesis, the luxury arm of Hyundai, has unveiled its new flagship electric SUV, the GV90. It's a showcase of high-end features rather than anything tied to home efficiency or rebates: rear coach doors that open independently of the front doors, a built-in refrigerator, swiveling front seats, a pop-up screen that extends to nearly two feet, and a sound system with 25 speakers.
On the technical side, the GV90 runs on a 123.5 kWh battery pack, which Genesis says will give the seven-seat version about 310 miles of range. Plugged into a fast charger rated at 350 kW, it can go from 10 percent to 80 percent charge in 22 minutes. The dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup produces 657 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque, and the SUV includes rear-wheel steering and air suspension to help it handle its large size, which stretches over 17 feet long.
There's no news here about home charging equipment, electricity rates, or incentives for homeowners. If you're weighing an EV purchase and thinking about how it fits with your home setup, the relevant points are simply the battery size and fast-charging speed, which affect how often you'd need to charge and how that might interact with your home's electrical panel or a Level 2 charger, if you install one. This particular vehicle sits at the very top of the luxury market and isn't the kind of purchase tied to typical home energy rebate programs.
