Rivian’s futuristic ALSO e-bike may be at its ultimate delay

September 3, 2026 · Electrek · Score: 0

This one isn't about home energy upgrades, but here's what's happening: Rivian's e-bike spin-off, ALSO, has delayed deliveries of its TM-B electric bike again. The company had told customers to expect bikes by mid-September, but now says its "Launch Edition" models are shipping in waves through early November. Regular reservation orders, opened up more recently, won't start shipping until after the Launch Edition units go out, with deliveries continuing through the end of the year depending on order date and bike configuration.

The TM-B is notable for its unusual design: instead of a normal chain connecting the pedals to the rear wheel, it uses a "drive-by-wire" system, where pedaling powers a generator that feeds a motor, which then drives the rear wheel through a belt. It also has a large built-in display and swappable accessories, putting it somewhere between a standard e-bike and an electric moped. ALSO hasn't given a detailed explanation for the delays, though it has posted photos of bikes in production at its factory in Asia and says it will send more specific delivery timing to customers through September.

This has no bearing on home energy-efficiency programs or rebates. It's simply an update on a consumer product delay for people who put down reservations on this particular e-bike.
