Rivian’s ALSO e-bikes are finally hitting the road – but not for frustrated customers
This news is about e-bikes, not home energy upgrades, so it doesn't touch on rebates or efficiency projects for your house. But here's what's happening: Rivian's spin-off company ALSO makes a $4,500 electric bike called the TM-B, and the company just kicked off a "Test Spin Fall Tour," bringing demo bikes to cities across the country so new customers can try one before buying.
The catch is that people who already paid for a TM-B last year are still waiting for their bikes. Deliveries were originally expected in spring 2026, then pushed to summer, then September. Customers were recently told bikes are "now shipping," but deliveries will trickle out in waves through early November. Some early buyers say they still don't have a delivery date.
ALSO says the delays trace back to supply problems for circuit boards and computer chips, made worse by demand tied to the AI boom, along with extra engineering work needed for the bike's unusual removable battery, which charges at up to 240 watts and required new safety testing, and its complex pedal-by-wire drivetrain. The company says production is underway and it expects to finish deliveries by early November.
None of this affects home energy programs or rebates. It's simply an update on a delayed consumer product from an EV-adjacent company.
