NIO Sales Up 49% in 2026

October 2, 2026 · CleanTechnica · Score: 0

Chinese electric vehicle maker NIO delivered 37,408 vehicles in September, up 4.4% from the prior month and 7.7% from a year earlier. The bigger story is the full-year trend: deliveries for the first three quarters of 2026 reached 300,301, a 49% jump over the same period in 2025. Third-quarter deliveries alone rose 25% year over year, to 109,178. NIO's total deliveries since the company began now stand at nearly 1.3 million vehicles.

September sales broke down across NIO's three brands: 21,318 for the main NIO brand, 8,763 for ONVO, and 7,327 for FIREFLY. NIO also highlighted some model milestones: its ES8 large SUV passed 150,000 deliveries in its first year on the market, and its ES9 model hit 30,000 deliveries within about four months of launch, both ranking at the top of their price categories in China.

This is a sales report on a Chinese automaker, not a U.S. rebate or incentive program, so it doesn't change what's available to homeowners here. But it's a sign of how fast electric vehicle sales are growing globally, which matters indirectly for anyone thinking about EV chargers or home electrical upgrades. NIO doesn't sell vehicles in the U.S., so this growth doesn't open up new car options for American buyers. If you're weighing a home EV charger or panel upgrade, the relevant numbers to track are domestic EV sales and local utility or tax incentives, not international delivery figures like these.
