Lucid (LCID) Q3 deliveries drop 7% as it slashes production by 38%

October 5, 2026 · Electrek · Score: 0

This is auto industry news with no direct tie to home energy upgrades, but here's what happened: Lucid, the electric vehicle maker, delivered 3,806 vehicles in the third quarter of 2026, down 7% from a year earlier. It built far fewer cars than usual, just 2,954, a 38% drop from the prior quarter and its lowest production total since early 2025. The company says the slowdown is deliberate.

New CEO Silvio Napoli is working through a backlog of unsold vehicles that piled up earlier in the year, much of it tied to a supplier issue that delayed deliveries of the Gravity SUV. Lucid built thousands more cars than it delivered in the first half of 2026, and this quarter marks the first time in 2026 that deliveries outpaced production, a sign the company is trying to clear out existing inventory rather than keep adding to it. Lucid says demand for the Gravity is picking back up, though it hasn't shared specific numbers. The company also pulled back its earlier target of building 25,000 to 27,000 vehicles this year.

For homeowners, this is simply a business update about one EV maker's production numbers and has nothing to do with home energy incentives, rebates, or efficiency programs. If you're researching EV charging at home or considering solar to power an electric vehicle, this news doesn't change any of the programs or options available to you.
