Kia’s next electric van looks even bigger in person [Video]
This is a story about electric vans, not home energy upgrades, so it doesn't touch on rebates or upgrades for your house. Still, here's what's happening: Kia is developing a new electric van called the PV7, a larger version of its PV5 electric van that launched last year. Prototypes have been spotted testing in public, and the PV7 looks noticeably bigger than the PV5, closer in size to a standard Ford Transit van.
The PV5 has done well commercially, making up 9% of electric light commercial vehicle sales in Europe in early 2026 and ranking third in the UK market. It comes in many configurations, including cargo, passenger, wheelchair-accessible, and even a seven-seat version. In Europe, the PV5 offers two battery options, with driving ranges up to 256 miles depending on the version.
The PV7 is expected to have more interior space than any van in Kia's lineup, though exact dimensions haven't been finalized. It's expected to launch in 2027, with an even larger model, the PV9, planned for 2029. These are commercial and passenger vans aimed at businesses and fleets, not vehicles typically marketed for home use like rooftop solar chargers or home battery systems, so there's no direct connection to home energy upgrades or rebate programs here. It's simply a look at where Kia's electric van lineup is headed next.
