Kia’s electric van is crushing it in Europe with a 37% share of small EV van sales

August 5, 2026 · Electrek · Score: 1

This one is about vehicles, not home upgrades, but here's the gist. Kia's new electric van, the PV5, has become the top-selling small electric van across Europe and the UK since it launched at the end of 2025. Industry data shows it now holds 37% of the small electric van market in Europe and ranks as the best-seller in 12 countries, including the UK and Germany.

The PV5 comes in a few versions: Cargo (for hauling), Passenger, and Chassis, aimed at both businesses and personal buyers. In the UK, the Cargo version is the best-selling electric van so far this year, and Kia sold over 1,000 electric vans there in July alone. That performance has pushed Kia into third place among electric van makers in the UK, and Kia is now the second-most-popular electric vehicle brand overall in the country.

Kia plans to expand the lineup with new PV5 variants, including a seven-seat passenger model, and to introduce a larger van (the PV7) next year, followed by another model by 2030. The company aims to sell 232,000 of these electric work vans by the end of the decade.

For homeowners, this is mostly relevant if you're watching the broader shift toward electric vehicles, since vans like this often show up as delivery or service vehicles from contractors and utilities. It doesn't involve home energy upgrades, rebates, or equipment for your house.
