Kia’s 7-seat electric people mover just got a bit cheaper in the UK
This is UK car news, not a home energy-efficiency story, but here is what happened for anyone tracking it. Kia's seven-seat electric PV5 Passenger van now qualifies for the UK Government's Electric Car Grant (ECG), a £1,500 discount on eligible electric vehicles. That brings the starting price down to £35,495 (about $47,000) on the road. Previously, Kia had confirmed the grant applied to five-seat versions of the PV5 but hadn't yet cleared it for the larger seven-seat model.
The seven-seat PV5 uses a 2-2-3 seating layout with extra legroom, headroom, and shoulder room compared to typical vans. It comes only with a 71.2 kWh long-range battery in the UK, giving up to 246 miles of range, and can fast-charge from 10% to 80% in under 30 minutes. Pricing across the three trims, after the grant, runs from £35,495 up to £40,475.
None of this applies to home energy upgrades or rebates — it's a vehicle pricing update from the UK market. If you're researching electric vehicles alongside home electrification projects, like installing a heat pump or upgrading your electrical panel for EV charging, the relevant takeaway is simply that automakers continue to roll out larger, family-sized electric vehicles at various price points, with government incentives shifting availability and cost over time. Any specific rebate questions for your own home are separate from this EV grant news and depend on programs in your own country or state.
