Jackery Adds Capability & Expandability To New HomePower 1000 Plus v2 Portable Battery
Jackery has released a new portable battery, the HomePower 1000 Plus v2, aimed at backup power for the home as well as outdoor and work use. It holds 1024 kWh of storage on its own, but you can add up to five expansion packs for a total of 11 kWh. It weighs about 24 pounds and is roughly the size of a 30-pack of canned drinks, so it is easy to move between rooms or take along in a car. It can run four standard 120-volt outlets at once, handling up to 1800 watts continuously, which covers most small appliances, fans, window air conditioners, and similar loads, though not a whole house.
For homeowners, the main appeal is backup power for specific needs rather than the whole house. It can keep a refrigerator running during an outage, power the igniters and fans on a gas furnace or water heater, or run medical equipment, aquarium pumps, or a laptop and router. It switches to battery power fast enough to work as backup for sensitive electronics like computers. It also charges from solar panels or a wall outlet, reaching 80 percent charge from AC power in 36 minutes.
Pricing starts at $749, with an introductory price of $619. A bundle with an expansion battery and two solar panels runs $2,139 at list price, $1,809 on promotion. Because it plugs into a regular outlet and needs no wiring changes, it could suit renters or apartment dwellers who cannot install whole-home battery systems or balcony solar.
