Hyundai opens orders for its new electric van, starting at about $66,500

September 17, 2026 · Electrek · Score: 9

Hyundai has opened orders for its new electric van, the Staria Electric, in Europe and other global markets after launching it earlier this year in Korea. In Germany, prices start at €57,450 (about $66,500) for the base nine-seat version, with leases starting around $570 a month. Higher trims add features like electric sliding doors, a power tailgate, and upgraded driver-assist tech, topping out near $77,800 for the range-topping model.

The van is large, seating up to nine people with over 1,300 liters of cargo space plus a small front trunk. It runs on an 84 kWh battery paired with a 218-horsepower motor, giving a range of about 267 miles on the European test cycle. Fast charging can take it from 10% to 80% in roughly 20 minutes. It also supports vehicle-to-load, meaning it can act as a power source for things like tools or small appliances, similar to some other EVs on the market.

None of this applies directly to US buyers, though. Hyundai has no plans announced to sell the Staria Electric here, and the company doesn't even sell the gas version in the US currently. If you're shopping for a family-hauling EV domestically, Hyundai's US lineup still centers on the three-row IONIQ 9 and the smaller IONIQ 5. This news is mostly relevant if you're comparing what's available to European or Australian buyers, or just curious where EV van technology is headed.
