Here’s our first look at Nissan’s new entry-level Pixo EV [Images]

September 9, 2026 · Electrek · Score: 0

This is car news, not a home energy story, but here's the gist. Nissan is bringing back a small, low-cost electric car called the Pixo, aimed at buyers who want an affordable EV rather than a big SUV. It's expected to launch in Europe in the first half of 2027, with prices starting under €20,000 (about $23,200) before any subsidies or incentives, and a fuller reveal planned for September 23.

Early spy photos show a heavily disguised test car that appears to share its underpinnings with the Renault Twingo. Nissan hasn't confirmed technical details, but reports point to a 27.5 kWh battery using lithium iron phosphate (LFP) chemistry, a common lower-cost, long-lasting battery type, paired with a single electric motor producing about 82 horsepower. That setup is expected to give a range of roughly 163 miles on the European testing standard. The car would be built alongside the Twingo at a Renault plant in Slovakia.

There's no indication this car is planned for sale in the United States, so it isn't something to factor into any home charging or EV purchase plans if you're in the US. If you're weighing a home charger install or curious how a new EV might fit your household's energy setup, this particular model likely won't be an option here — it's aimed at European buyers looking for a smaller, cheaper city car.
