Heliene launches 108HC M10 SL All-Black solar module for residential rooftops
Solar panel maker Heliene has a new all-black panel designed for home rooftops, called the 108HC M10 SL. It puts out between 380 and 410 watts, with an efficiency up to 21 percent, meaning it converts that share of sunlight hitting it into electricity. The all-black look, with no visible white backing or silver frame lines, is aimed at homeowners who want solar panels that blend in rather than stand out.
On durability, the panel is built to handle hail up to 55 millimeters across and rated for substantial wind and snow loads (engineering terms for how much front and back pressure the panel can take without damage). It's certified under standard industry safety tests (UL 61215, UL 61730, and CSA C22.2) and carries a Type 1 fire rating.
Heliene backs the panel with a 25-year product warranty and a 25-year performance guarantee. Under that guarantee, the panel can lose up to 2 percent of its output in the first year, then no more than 0.5 percent a year after that, meaning it should still produce at least 86 percent of its original power after 25 years. For anyone comparing solar quotes, these numbers, the wattage, efficiency, and warranty terms, are worth lining up against other panels you're considering, since they affect both how much power your roof can generate and how long that output is guaranteed to last.
