GM makes charging easy while Elon bets big on fossil fuels and Leno talks Tesla

August 10, 2026 · Electrek · Score: 4

GM is rolling out two new features called Energy Pass and Plug and Charge for its electric Cadillac, Chevrolet, and GMC vehicles. Together they let drivers skip the usual hassle of EV charging stops. At participating charging stations, you just plug in your car and charging starts right away, with no app to download and no need to pull out a credit card. GM has details on its website for owners who want to check which stations and vehicles are covered.

The rest of the news is less relevant to homeowners. SpaceX confirmed it will power a huge new computer chip factory, called "Terafab," with gas rather than solar power, despite Tesla's own solar business. Tesla's design chief also told television host Jay Leno that the long-delayed Tesla Roadster is coming "very soon," a promise the company has made for years without delivering the car.

None of this changes anything homeowners need to do right now. The GM charging update mainly matters if you drive one of those brands and use public charging stations, since it removes a step from the process. The SpaceX and Tesla items are company news about vehicles and factories, not about home energy upgrades or rebates.
