Ford’s electric pickup is suddenly selling like hotcakes at 50% off used

October 12, 2026 · Electrek · Score: 46

Ford's electric pickup, the F-150 Lightning, is finding new demand on the used market even though Ford stopped making it last December. Used models are selling for about half to 60% off the original sticker price, with the average used price now around $50,000. That's still a steep discount from what Ford once charged, since the truck's price climbed from under $40,000 at launch in 2021 to around $60,000 later on. Used Lightnings are now selling in about 20 days, roughly twice as fast as the average used vehicle in the US, and dealers say they're struggling to find reasonably priced ones to stock.

For homeowners thinking about an electric truck, this suggests the Lightning may be worth a look on the used market if you want one for home use, towing, or as a backup vehicle, since buyers are reportedly picking them up for around $40,000 compared to original prices well above that. The truck looks and drives much like the gas F-150, with instant torque and no tailpipe emissions, though specific range or battery details aren't mentioned here.

Ford plans to try again in 2027 with a new electric pickup called the Fathom, starting under $30,000. Ford says it will have more interior space than a Toyota RAV4 and built-in Apple Maps navigation, but details on range, towing capacity, and battery size haven't been released yet.
