Ford recalls nearly 90,000 Mustang Mach-E EVs because part of the trim can fall off

This one is outside what Retrofit Relay covers. We focus on home energy upgrades, efficiency projects, and rebates for homeowners, not vehicle recalls.

If you drive a Mustang Mach-E, the short version: Ford is recalling nearly 86,543 model-year 2023 to 2025 Mach-E EVs because a piece of glass trim on the rear side window can come loose and fall off while driving. Ford traced the problem to a new assembly tool at a supplier's factory and has had 219 reports of the trim detaching, though no accidents or injuries so far. The company estimates only about 1% of the recalled vehicles actually have the defect.

Owner notification letters are expected to go out September 10, 2026, with a follow-up letter once a fix is ready. When that happens, dealers will inspect the trim and replace it for free if needed. Owners with questions can call Ford at 1-888-436-7332 (recall number 26S56) or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration at 1-888-327-4236 (campaign number 26V487).
