ENGWE Packs Extra Power Into The New M20 3.0 — CleanTechnica Tested

August 22, 2026 · CleanTechnica · Score: 0

This one is more about transportation than home upgrades, but it may interest anyone thinking about an electric bike or moped for commuting. ENGWE, an e-bike maker, has a new model called the M20 3.0, a motorcycle-style electric bike with pedals and a rear hub motor. It comes with a 1,200 watt-hour battery, with the option to add a second one to double the range. On a single battery, the maker expects about 80 miles per charge, though that's with little pedaling since the bike isn't really built for it.

The motor is limited by software to 750 watts, the usual cap for e-bikes in the U.S., but the hardware itself can put out 1,000 watts continuous and up to 3,300 watts peak. That matters because some cities, counties, and states are starting to crack down on bikes that exceed the 750-watt limit, since going over it can mean you're not allowed in bike lanes or on bike paths. Depending on where you live, a bike like this might need registration or a different license than a standard e-bike, so the actual rules vary by location.

The bike itself has front and rear suspension, oversized tires, hydraulic disc brakes, and a long seat built for one or two riders. It requires some at-home assembly. For anyone considering one, price is described as variable, with occasional sales making it more affordable.
