Discounts on Kia EV9 Give It Ridiculous Price

September 18, 2026 · CleanTechnica · Score: 21

Some dealers are cutting deep discounts on the Kia EV9, a large electric SUV that seats up to seven. In Texas, one dealership dropped the EV9 Light RWD from its $54,900 starting price to $41,414 — a $16,041 cut. That version has 230 miles of range, which covers most daily driving even though it's on the lower end for an electric vehicle.

Other dealers are matching the trend. In Illinois, a Light Short Range model fell from $57,480 to $42,480, and a Light Long Range version — with 304 miles of range — dropped from $59,785 to $44,785. These prices put a full-size, seven-seat electric SUV in the same range as much smaller electric cars like the Tesla Model 3 or Kia Niro EV.

For a homeowner comparing vehicles, the appeal isn't just the sticker price. An electric SUV like this typically costs less to run than a similarly sized gas SUV, since electricity is generally cheaper than gasoline per mile and electric motors need less maintenance. If your household already has home charging or is thinking about installing it, a discount like this could make a three-row electric option more affordable than expected. Sales of the EV9 are already up 12 percent this year compared with the same period last year, suggesting other buyers are taking notice of the price cuts too. Discounts vary by dealership and location, so what's available will depend on where you live and which dealer you check.
