Modine, an HVAC equipment maker, is expanding its coatings plant in Jacksonville, Texas, to keep up with demand tied to data centers. The company is adding a new automated line that applies ElectroFin, an anti-corrosion coating, to aluminum heat exchanger coils. The new line will roughly double the plant's capacity for coating "microchannel" coils, a compact style of heat exchanger used in high-efficiency cooling equipment. Engineering work is underway now, with the project expected to finish by November 2027.
The push behind this expansion is the rapid growth of data centers, which need large amounts of cooling equipment and, according to Modine, are driving record demand for coated heat exchangers that resist corrosion over time. The plant's existing coating line, which serves more traditional "round-tube plate-fin" coils, will keep running alongside the new automated line, so the facility can serve both types of equipment.
This is a manufacturing and supply story rather than a homeowner program or rebate announcement. It does not change what's available to homeowners directly, but it points to a broader trend worth knowing about: as data centers pull in more HVAC manufacturing capacity and investment, that demand could shape pricing, lead times, or product availability for cooling equipment more broadly, including the kind used in homes. For now, there's nothing here that calls for action on your part, just a sign of where the industry is putting its money.
